I’m baaaaaack

Yes, I am back at the blogging, as the computer has returned home, newly cleaned out, and ready to go. It’s been a little while since I’ve been here – I hope people will come back …

Quick update, with more to follow over the next few days: the question of whether I could combine full-time work has been answered, and the answer is …. (drum roll) …. no. Not really. I mean, we probably could have guessed that, because I wasn’t getting anything written back when I had a permanent full-time job, so why would things be any different with a temporary one. Now, I previously thought that might have something to do with the fact that I wrote for work, which is definitely not true right now, but it seems it has more to do with the competing claims of life and art. I get home around 6:30 six days a week, there’s dinner to cook, the gym to visit or a run to go on, the cat to feed, my boyfriend to hang out with … well, there’s barely enough time for all that most nights before I’m going to bed.

For a little while I was getting about 500 words a night done, but then I hit a bit of a creative block in the plot and things stagnated. I’ve been taking regular notes – and giving some thought, some quite productive thought, actually, to the plot problem, during the day, which is good news – and I’m hoping that come early September all that mental work will turn into some faster production. It’s possible that this plot block would have slowed me down right now anyways, or at least that’s how I’m choosing to think about it.

Anyway, that’s what I’ve been up to.
