Doing “research”

Fresh strawberries

Fresh strawberries

Earlier this week the boyfriend and I went down the road a kilometre to a u-pick strawberry farm. (There are disadvantages to living as far out of town as we do – like, not very much is open late out here, and the nearest movie theatre has very limited selection – but there are definite advantages, and living one k from a u-pick strawberry farm is one of them.)

The book involves agriculture and food, right? So this sort of thing is research.

That’s the excuse, at least. At least it was inspirational – after picking ’em, and freezing 3/4 of them for future enjoyment, and then making a crepe and covering it in sweet, sweet fresh strawberries, I went on to write 3,000 words in a sitting. With that end result we should be going out and acquiring fresh fruit every day.
