In Harper Lee’s footsteps

Via Books are People, Too, a story that reveals that famous author Harper Lee also took a year off from other work to write her masterpiece, To Kill a Mockingbird. In her case, however, a group of friends came together and gave her the necessary cash as a Christmas gift. I’m kinda glad that I saved up the money myself – there would be an immense amount of pressure if the money had come as a gift. Of course Harper Lee really used that gift well, creating one of the great works of American fiction. So I’m sure her friends were pleased.
