Friday wrap-up

So it’s been three weeks. It feels both like longer – as if I had been at home, writing, forever – and shorter – as if three weeks would have seen me be much more productive than I have been.

Total word count thus far: 38,646

As promised yesterday, I finished the section I’ve been working on, meaning that on Monday I move on to something new and daunting. To get to that point today I had to push harder than usual and did about 4,300 words. This earned me an extra gold star sticker on my calendar (I have taken up methods usually reserved for motivating toddlers in my efforts to push myself harder).

Coming up this weekend: the winner announced in the first-person novel suggestion contest (entries still open to Saturday at 4 p.m., if you haven’t entered yet); and the whys and why-nots of side projects.
